Need a Hand?

These daysa bowl of healthy salad it’s all about healthy eating and that means more greens, more salads. Gone are the days of a chunk of iceberg lettuce slathered with dressing. Today’s salads are culinary works of art, colorful and enticing. What goes in them is limited only by your personal preferences and imagination. Whether a meal or a side, salads are playing a new role in our eating experience.

Presentation has much to do with the appeal of any food and that includes salads. With a lovely handcrafted wood bowl as the background the variety of colors in the salad pop and make the viewer want to dig in. Dig in how? There are numerous utensils designed to serve the salad, from plastic to high dollar gold plate. The regular servers have difficulty getting the small pieces, like onions or capers or sunflower seeds.

Salad hands to the rescue! They scoop the lettuce and keep the small pieces in place giving you the full benefit of all the goodies in the salad. They even come with a ‘knobbie’ that hooks over the edge of the bowl so the hands are readily available to serve. Salad hands come in different styles and wood types and are easy to care for. Heart Healthy Salad


2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 (10-ounce) package gourmet salad greens
1/4 cup finely chopped dried apricots
1/4 cup chopped pistachios


1. To prepare dressing, combine all ingredients in a small bowl; stir with a whisk.

2. To prepare salad, combine all ingredients in a large bowl; add dressing.

  1. We absolutely love our beautiful set of salad hands. No more chasing the goodies around, the hands just scoop everything right up. Did I mention they are beautiful? I think we’re eating more salad just so we can use them. 🙂
